The War Z – Are You Interested?

So a lot of people have been playing the Day Z game on their PCs for some time now, following hot on it’s heels is The War Z, but how does it stack up and what’s on offer.

The game is set 5 years after an outbreak that caused 90% of the population to become infected, the main difference between this and Day Z is as a opposed to being a free to play Mod of Arma 2, this is a fully fledged MMO, but that being said, rather than a subscription model charging you X amount of money per month, it will be based around a one off payment to purchase the game and then money will be made by buying items from the store within the game or renting servers to play with your friends.

The game will receive regular updates free of charge and will begin with Colorado which will support up to 250 players and each server will be persistent.

As for gameplay it will be first person and will include both melee weapons and guns and the only objective is to survive in the sandbox environment, either aiding and trading with other players or not.

The game releases in Alpha on October 15th and you can pre-order now at a discounted rate of $29.99 for a Pioneer pass which gives you $15 of in game purchases, three guest passes for two days which will be activated on the 31st October and 1 month server hosting, or $49.99 which adds a further $15 of in game purchasing and 6 months server hosting rather than one, $15.49 for a Survivor pass which gives you entry to the closed beta from he 31st October go here.

Finally can you play it? Well according to the website all you need is a computer that has at least 2GB of RAM, and has a video card that supports Shader Model 3.0.

The stumbling block will be that initial outlay, but from what is available so far it looks to have promise.
