Extra life!

Well I'll start off by saying that I'm not sure if this is the right section but here it goes.

Last year at some point I know there was a VG extra life charity event. I was wondering, is there going to bar an event this year?
I for one am interested in doing one and I'm sure there are other willing gamers across the sites!

I had a great time last year and will taking part this year. Funny you mention this as the first promo email arrived with me this morning. (copied below)

I'm sure the VG Hub Team will rise to the challenge again. 11 of us raised over $3600 so with a big effort and a few more team members we can do even better.

Get involved. The most fun you can have raising money for sick kids in your area.

Dear Robin,

We're excited to announce the date for the 2012 Extra Life marathon! On Saturday October 20th, 2012 we will once again pick up controllers, iPads and mice in support of our local Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

Now that's a long way off, but we're hard at work RIGHT NOW getting your new 2012 Extra Life website ready, and we need your help to finish it up.

Confession time: Get ready.

Last year, (gulp) we used a "stock image" of a "gamer" on the website.

I know. I know.

This year, we're including only ACTUAL extra life players, alongside the kids we're all here to save, which is where you come in.

I'll definitely sign up this year! I couldn't think of a better way to help charity for me ( not being the sportiest of people) and would love to take part! Please let me know of any more details and how to sign up!

How does it work? Does everyone just play online together, or do groups of people actually get together to play? I'm thinking this would be a good excuse for a group of people to get together somewhere and play.

Spicy its simple enough.

Last year it kicked of at 8am and went to 8am the following day.

You can play on whatever medium you choose, Xbox, PS3, Handheld on the loo...whatever.

Team VGHub.net was set up to encompass all the sites in the family and eleven of us joined the Team headed by John Conger II (jsslifelike)

There is a simple online system to collect donations and all monies go toward helping sick kids in a Children's Miracle Network Hospital. There will be one near you associated with this charity. You specify a hospital where the money is to go.

I played single player, multi-player, I played............a day well wasted.

I'll be posting more as details are announced for this year.

I'm up for this (if it's saturday-sunday). Last year facial hair, this year gaming. Next year I will be drinking beer and having sex with hot chicks for charity. But not for 24 hours. I may have to save some skyrim for it as that seems to override my will to sleep more than any other game. It's a really good cause and if I can't take part, you have my money.

Glad to see its coming together (sort of) despite the fact it's still a while away!
Got to say bongo I like the 24hr feed thing! I really think I could do this and as the whole vghub community I think it will be more of a success than last year ( if that's possible).
I recently watched 31 hours straight of " the big bang theory" with some friends and that got me thinking about this topic! Up to the 24hr mark wasn't so bad wich is why I'm thinking that doing something like this that is both a challenge and a money raising event for a worthwhile charity will be great!!
