Dragon's Dogma

I'm not really into the dragony, wizardy, gobliny type of games, but I love me some Capcom. So, since the Japanese demo is the full English version, I got it from the JP Store on Monday night. It's very good. It looks like it'll satisfy fans of the genre while being accessible to people like me. I have to admit I spent far too much time in the character create section. Over an hour spent creating my character and her pawn. She's quite the looker, extremely similar to Milla's Joan of Arc...

Anyway, trying to take down a griffin before it gets dark (otherwise you and your party have to fight it in pitch darkness, aided only by a lantern each) is really fun. Also, I appreciate the fact that you can tinker with the HUD and take all the RPG clutter off the screen. I may consider this a purchase when it comes down in price.

I have also tried the demo but I was not impressed, I don't whether its because I can never get on with Capcom games, for me they are the worst developer, I have never found a title that caused me to say 'wow I really enjoyed that game'!
I know their are plenty of gamers that love Capcom titles but their not my cup of tea!

The main character 's movement reminded me of ninja gaiden and I found the whole demo unfullfilling there are RPG's out there that are so much better, my wallets staying firmly in my pocket!

Oh, really? I absolutely adore Capcom. They're responsible for some of my favourite games throughout the years. Different strokes for different folks, I guess!

I don't think it's an exceptionally good demo to demonstrate what the game fully has to offer. You probably know this but if not, the game is open world (invisible walls purposefully put in the demo) and has a day/night cycle where the gameplay through the night takes on more of a survival horror style. Sounds cool to me. Then there's the ability to climb, clamber over and hang onto creatures to attack them instead of the usual slashing away at their legs. And of course the pawn system where you use pawns other players have created, which sounds interesting.

I like how you can grab on to flying beasties and keep jabbing the sword in ... mind you its a long way down when it flicks you off.

For the record I love Capcom as well :-)

Fellow Capcom lover. Good man! So many classic games/series. Commando, Final Fight, Devil May Cry, Forgotten Worlds, 1942, Ghosts'n Goblins, Mercs, Strider, Street Fighter, Marvel vs Capcom, Dead Rising, Resident Evil, Lost Planet, Viewtiful Joe, Power Stone, Darkstalkers, etc. Capcom not existing would leave a big hole in my gaming history.

Back to Dragon's Dogma, yeah, things like actually being able to climb on creatures to attack them, and the ability to get rid of the typical RPG clutter on the screen makes this a much more approachable game for me.

Too late! I already played the demo and I'll probably play the full game at some point. Looks like they've learned from their mistakes with the camera..

Ha, yes, I think you'd probably warm to it the more you play it. Speaking of the podcast, loved the Rolling Thunder mention. :)

Should I get it?

I'm getting near to the end of Kingdoms of Amalur, (I think.) And will need another RPG to play after that, I've played the demo and didn't hate it, but is that enough of a reason to buy it?
Currently playing:

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Next game to be played:
