Just started it myself, not finding it too bad at the mo, I am about 5 hours in, the dialogue trees feel a bit clunky, but I am enjoying in apart from that.

I really hope that DA2 follows the line of Mass Effect 1 and 2, and allows the player to choose a male, or a female, Hawke. Personally, an RPG is ruined for me if I cannot invest in the character I am 'given', which is why I have enjoyed so few JRPGs. I prefer to create my own characters and parties.

I like a degree of narrative freedom in games - if I want a compelling set character, I'll read a book, or watch a film. Marcus Fenix and his ilk are all rather cardboard and shallow for me. Still, as the Gears games sell by the million, who am I to judge?

Yeah, DragonAge Origins was a little lackluster in its dialogue and character development.. Still, it's better than most RPGs for the XBox360..

As for the combat, I know what you mean JohnnyU.. It definitely takes some getting used to. Maybe it was easier for me, since I'd played a number of BioWare RPGs on the Mac before geting to DAO.. The more you practice with it, the easier it will become.

I found the combat difficult to get used to at first. I liked Dragon Age though so I will go back and finish this before DA2 comes out.

I found a surprisingly good hands-on report on DA2 at the Guardian of all places

http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/gamesblog/2010/aug/23/gamescom-dragon-age-ii-bioware

So you can choose your preferred gender and character class for "your" Hawk. It sounds a bit like Bioware are turning Dragon Age into Mass Effect with elves, which suits me just fine. This is now my most anticipated game for 2011.

Good - if I can play as a female Hawke, and customise the character, DAY ONE PURCHASE!

doubt soo many people play gears of war for the story though hehe.

A few JRPG's have started doing this also , prime example is Dragon quest IX . a famous JRPG were you can create your entire party if you wish includeing the main charactor.

I loved Dragon age , my one gripe being that mage as a class is overpowered.
