This one is going to be glorious!

Sony has a 15 year+ gaming history, and it should also have quite the pantheon of gaming gods upon which to draw.

I've played some of the Smash Brothers games, and if this one gets the balance right, it's going to be an online epic. I'll certainly be picking this one up. I can only hope it's a £30 title; as it's (personally) not quite £40 for me.

Be nice to beat the crap out of Buzz. he irks me.

I CAN HAZ PLAYZ!

- Silent Hill: Downpour (PS3)
- Dark Souls (PS3) - yes...still.
- Legend of Grimrock (PC)

Glorious indeed! I've never played any of the Smash Bros games but I do own Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic, which is similar to those games and while obviously no where near the pedigree of the Nintendo series, is a lot of fun to play.

How can you not smile when playing this? In a simple screenshot you've got Hades watching on with Patapon behind (that he turns around to attack), while Fat Princess throws out a special move, while Sweet Tooth transformed into his ice cream truck attacks Kratos who is performing an aerial attack, while PaRappa chills in the middle.

I think you could be in luck with this releasing at a slightly lower price. I say that because Sony absolutely know they're guaranteed to make a killing on all the DLC.

More details (the last point is VERY good to hear)...

- The team consists of members with extensive backgrounds in fighting and combat titles

- Either the left analog stick or the d-pad controls movement of your character.

- The right stick will let you perform throws, with different ones assigned to each direction.

- The X button jumps, and the other three face buttons are assigned to different attacks.

- L1 blocks and R1 picks up items.

- R2, executes a super move. While fighting, you'll build up a meter that lets you perform a super move that knocks out characters.

- Also, some attacks knock AP (action points) out of opponents, letting others pick them up to fill up these meters. There are three levels of supers, each one stronger than the last, and each requiring another filling of this meter. If you can manage to land hits and survive long enough, a level three super can knock out all other players, earning you points.

- Victory goes to the player with the highest number of KOs; knocking out a character adds to your score while being knocked out subtracts from it.

- So, there's nothing in the way of health bars here, as health doesn't really matter in the long run.

- Most of the matches I played were frantic free-for-alls that had us hitting each other in any way possible in an effort to get those meters filled up.

- get excited about the control, because it's outstanding. SuperBot really nailed it. It's fast, super-responsive, and never gets in the way of the crazy action. The in-air stuff is not floaty at all; jumps do what you need them to, when you need them to. I never had a problem blocking, platforming or recovering.

We've seen six characters so far and kinda know all the popular faves that will be in the game. I'd imagine when all's said and done, including DLC, the roster will contain 40+ characters. It's been confirmed that there will be third-party characters as well as first. So, let's start posting who we'd like to see in the line-up...

I have no concerns about them getting the feel and balance right. All the reports have been extremely positive (albeit with only 6 characters at the moment) with comments such as...

"One thing we can get excited about already is the control, because it's outstanding. SuperBot really nailed it. It's fast, super-responsive, and never gets in the way of the crazy action. The in-air stuff is not floaty at all; jumps do what you need them to, when you need them to. I never had a problem blocking, platforming or recovering. From the dozen or so matches I played I can tell you that if you die, it's 100 percent on you -- the control is that tight."

Also, it's worth noting that the SuperBot team have the likes of UFC, WWE, Gears of War, Mortal Kombat and God of War on their collective CV. Some of the team are even high level competitive Street Fighter players. The mechanics should be spot on.
