Ha! They're fantastically disgusting, aren't they. It's gonna be very satisfying putting them down.

From a gameplay perspective, it's interesting to wonder how you deal with the infected. You'd have to think that they're blind and their sense of smell has disappeared due to the fact that their nose no longer remains! So, perhaps they hunt/scavenge with just a sense of hearing? Maybe we can avoid contact with them almost entirely if we're quiet. Shhhh.

The release date has possibly been leaked. According to EB Games http://www.ebgames.ca/ps3/games/the-last-of-us/312115 it's coming on...

September 11th 2012

May or may not be a placeholder but as justpushstart has said, "Some may simply look at this as a placeholder, but the fact that EB Games assigned a specific date (not the first or last of a month) which happens to be a Tuesday, the day on which most games are released, seems more than coincidental."

New trailer!

Looks incredible, obviously. Sony really must have so much stuff to show at E3 if they're able to casually reveal something this stunning out of nowhere.

I admire your willpower! I can't help but absorb every little detail of the game.

If you're going truly dark, you might wanna miss Naughty Dog's section during Sony's E3 conference - they're bound to show gameplay. Some more details from the PS Blogcast...

-They want the quiet to be creepy, they want you to hear every footstep, voice and breath to find out where the enemy is

-The build was from January

-They are not going to have cursing and violence for the sake of it

-The AI will behave differently based on number of people left and what weapons you have or they have. So if one guy is left he will be scared and hide, so you have to find him

-Ellie is 14

-They want to make Ellie capable, she can get into danger sometimes but she can take care of herself. She helps you get out of rough spots

-They want to give a certain amount of strategy in combat

Awesome walkthrough at Sony's E3 press conference. I love the fact that the "zombies" are not the only threat e.g. looters etc.
This game is going to sell a s**t load of PS3s ... mark my words.

As for Microsoft's Halo 4 showcase press conference ... tired, tired, tired and showing Tomb Raider as if it was an exclusive, lol :-)
I don't like to rag on M$ but they are any easy target at the moment. We all expected more ... much more :-(

That's the thing. I didn't expect more from MS. I've seen what's been happening with them for the past few years. Weeks ago in another thread here I said this year would be no different from recent past MS E3s. Surprise, surprise...it wasn't.

As for The Last of Us, yep, the E3 demo with other humans was awesome. People were speculating that because it played so well that it must've been scripted. Since that demo, there has been an extended version of that section of the game played again in front of the press behind closed doors. It turns out that it's not scripted at all. You can play that section many different ways. You could stealth that entire section if you like. You can use what you find offensively or defensively. An example being the bandages Joel finds in the demo. He uses them to craft a firebomb, but he could've also used those bandages to help heal his wounds.

From Gamespot...

"AI in The Last of Us is so good that--until you see the same demo played through a second time and realize that characters' actions aren't scripted--it's hard to believe that it's AI at all. Joel and Ellie reference their surroundings as they converse believably, enemies behave differently depending on the weapon you're carrying and whether or not they outnumber you, and Ellie is quick to assist you in the event that you run out of ammo and subsequently find yourself on the receiving end of a beating."
