Who got Mass Effect 3 then?

Postby stulec52 » 09 Mar 2012, 04:50

I did.
it must be me........

I really don't like it.
let me try to explain.
First of all it wouldn't let me bring in my saved character from ME2 (or ME1 for that matter)
No biggie, I made a new one, Missus !

game feels just like ME2. you know, GO HERE SHEPARD, GET THIS OR THAT, THEN GO HERE, blah blah blah

then there's " better with Kinect"
says who?? not me.
The first time you have to shout at your TV more than once, you will never use it again. I mean really, I have to shout to OPEN a door, or just tap A....

I play for a couple of hours, feel like I'm doing something, not fun as such, but you know, adventuring, saving the universe. Then I come back the next day and I've forgotten what the hell I was doing, and am lost in who knows where trying to do who knows what. It just all blends together with nothing really standing out. I actually nodded off during one of the MANY MANY long cut scenes.

Am I the only one who just wants to PLAY a game??
I'm off to play Motorstorm RC some more, you know, to have fun.

rant over. :D

Blasphemy. How dare you speak of Mass Effect without the required praise and awe? An agent from Bioware will be by shortly to pick you up for mandatory reprogramming.

I've played a couple of hours, and am actually liking some of the kinect controls. Not the door opening or anything else that can be accomplished by just pressing A, but I like being able to just say "First aid" to heal or "assault rifle" to switch weapons. I hardly ever use the power or weapon wheels, seems to streamline things and keep the action flowing better. And kinect picks up my voice from across the room at just above a whisper.

As far as the game, I haven't played enough to really get pulled in, but I really liked the first two. I don't even mind the day one DLC.

I picked it up and I'm digging it. I guess I always viewed this game as being inside of a huge sci-fi movie, so I don't mind all of the cut scenes. I'm actually really taking my time and enjoying all of the little details. Though, I'm just a few missions in so I don't yet feel completely immersed.

Luckily my ME2 saves ported over without a problem. I was happy to be given the choice between multiple game saves (I played through ME2 twice, and wasn't sure if my first play through would be lost).

I don't own Kinect and have little interest in yelling at my TV (or owning a Kinect at all, for that matter).

I'm looking forward to my next rainy day off when I can really sink into this game.

Nah, you're not alone, stulec. It wasn't on my '12 for 12' list for a reason. I'm not interested in playing it. I didn't play Mass Effect, so had no interest in Mass Effect 2 when that came out. Some reviewers such as Giant Bomb are saying ME3 isn't as good as ME2 and isn't really worth buying if you haven't played either of the previous games.

What I did instead was watch Dan on DansGaming (twitch.tv) do his marathon ME3 run on Tuesday and Wednesday. He played as (possible spoilers? Don't reveal if you're worried at all about spoilers -->) gay male Shepard so seeing him laid in bed with his boyfriend and then kissing him was, uh, interesting. :?

Sorry to hear your problems with the import.

Thankfully no such problems here.

Can I suggest you recalibrate all the settings on your Kinect. As mentioned above you shouldn't have to shout just talk normally. I'm not using the commands all the time but it does help with the flow of the speech and some of the action.

Is this game worth playing? 100% yes.

Is it as good as ME2? Its on such a high pedestal it'll never be good enough for some folk. Yes, it's great.

I love the ME universe, the characters and those big boobs in tight suits everywhere you look.

What's not to like first or third time around.

I played and like ME2 but for some reason I have no interest in playing ME3 especially after the demo I just literally can't be fucked.

I absolutely love mass effect universe and I'm really enjoying 3 although I'm only an hour and a half in. It is more of the same but I'm still engrossed and hanging on every scene. The only negative thing is that the shitty framerate on ps3 mass effect 2 has carried across to 3. It's like a Ray Harryhausen film. Ah well, I still loved 2 so will try and ignore it and just enjoy the game which I know I will. Hmm Ashley or Miranda... Maybe both, I always thought I should be a bit more Renegade.

Well into it now.

It's lush.

Had the house to myself for a few hours this aft. and pumped the surround sound up to super ridiculous. Fantastic.

I played some more last night.
I got punched in the face by some reporter lady (no not Chobot)
The reason that happened is the bloody annoying cut scenes.... so I put my controller down and try to stay with it, then in the middle of one it flashes Right trigger at me, I didn't pick up my controller in time.
another reason to dislike !

I'm sure it's me. like I am missing something.
how do you know what to do or indeed where to go next? I was in the Citadel, and when you press down on the left stick it sometimes has characters names in rooms, I assume that means I NEED to go there.
Well, I went back again and again to see some people, 3rd and forth time I went in they were telling me hello like I hadn't just been in 5 seconds before.
so messed up.

I gave up trying to follow that and just headed back to the ship, but I'm sure I have missed stuff.

Go into your Journal, uncomplete tasks/missions are white, complete are greyed out. They'll inform you who and where to go for your next task.
