DC Universe Online

So, is it just me that has any interest in this? I had a £20 Gamestation voucher, and took the plunge yesterday, and picked it up. The first month is free, so if it all turns out to be an unmitigated disaster, I can trade it back.

So far, I am impressed. This is slick, honed and very much like an action RPG. PC MMOs can be plodding grinds, but from the start, DCUO has you climbing buildings and actually feeling like a hero. My biggest concern was the controls, but the transition to joypad is perfect, and in no way cumbersome.

Of course, if there are no VGs, of friendly people playing, then the first month might be my last!

I CAN HAZ PLAYZ!

- Silent Hill: Downpour (PS3)
- Dark Souls (PS3) - yes...still.
- Legend of Grimrock (PC)

I really want to play this, It sounds great and if I still had a PS3, i probably only pick this game up. Many of the others hold no appeal or want for me.

I played the beta for a few hours, and couldn't get into it. Maybe after it's been released for a few months I'll look at picking it up.

I might pick this up - Do you think its worth the £10 per month subs ?
or do you think you'll play it for one month and that will be your lot ?
I was a little worried to shell out £40 with no chance to trade the game in if I don't think its up to much.

I have ordered the game from amazon so it should arrive on thursday. I'm not really a huge fan of comic heros but I am a fan of rpgs, plus quite a few of my friends are playing it at the moment and really enjoying it.

Sorry to "high-jack" the thread

This made me laugh -
http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2011/01/14/dc-universe-online-ps3-requires-16gb-takes-15-hours-to-install/
e.g.
Here’s the breakdown of the install process:

Initial Version Update - Time: 2:34 (132 MB)
Redeem Activation Code - Time: < 1 Minute
Updates Download - Time: 42:45 (12 GB)
Assets Check/Install - Time: < 1 Minute
Second Update Download - Time: 46:48 (2 GB)
Total Time: Approx. 1 Hour and 33 minutes

>>> this is obviously if you have a connection that can download 12 GB in 42 mins
I'd be waiting all day to play this game.
I see the activation code is entered before the 12 and 2 GB downloads....so your 30 "free" days becomes 29 "free" days.

This is a little typical of SOE from my experience.

Being a Playstation Plus Member (Worth every penny) I got to play the Beta over Christmas and basically its Crackdown Online which is no bad thing but defo not worth ten quid a month. I got up to level 10 in the game but to be honest I was starting to lose interest. When you get to play as Batman or Robin (I chose Robin, lol) its really poor as there are many Batmen and Robins running around. Just looks stupid in my humble opinion. Its probably worth £30 to play for a month but I doubt you'll be playing after that :-)

this game is made of shear win , my and a friend were doing this villan questline , we had to popen these demon portal things to let evil into the city , and also shoot medics , but heros have the same quests there cept reverse , so we had heros trying to close portals and protect medics , it was insane , there must have been 50 people fighting over this one area lol. took me an hour to do the simple quest becuse I spent half the time fighting other people , at times getting distracted lol.

That sounds kind of frustrating to be honest. Are there missions you do where other do not interfere or is that how it always is? This is that thing I do not like about MMO's is that the griefing reaches a new height the more people you add to the equation. For those not in the know, griefing is when a player spends on their time making another player miserable through use of the game mechanics. I realize I am sort of taking the piss out of what is probably a fantastic game but since we're talking nothing but positives... What are the negatives that would make this a poor choice to buy for someone?
